When it comes time to count your blessings and give thanks this November, why not have the family gather in a place with some of Colorado’s best natural beauty? With the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountains and the beautiful Lake Estes, you’ll find plenty to be thankful for while you stay in one of our Mountain Village at Lake Estes log-interior cabins for Thanksgiving in Estes Park.

Glue Your Eyes to the Screen
Whether your Thanksgiving traditions include the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, Charlie Brown cartoon specials, or football, you’ll be able to watch all of them and more on our cabins’ flat-screen TVs. Cabins can come with more than one, so your family needn’t all be stuck watching the same thing. Most of our Estes Park cabins offer a large, wall-mounted flat-screen TV above the living room fireplace as well as in both master suites, offering plenty of options for your Thanksgiving viewing traditions!
Making an Estes Park Thanksgiving Dinner
There won’t be any rustic roughing it with the kitchens you’ll find in our cabins. Our cabins offer kitchens with many of the same appliances you know and love back home, along with serving dishes and utensils. And there’s a barbecue grill as well if you want an unconventional but no less loving Estes Park Thanksgiving family cookout.
And for those who don’t want to cook or simply want to take a vacation where they can get away from all responsibilities, there’s always the option of eating out. Many local restaurants do close on Thanksgiving, but there are still those that do not. Be sure to ask us for our restaurant recommendations! The Waterfront Grille at the nearby Estes Park Resort, for example, will be open for breakfast, buffet, and dinner on Thanksgiving in Estes Park. Other restaurants that frequently hold special Thanksgiving meals and events are The Barrel, Latitude 105, Hunters Chophouse, Nicky’s Steakhouse Buffet, and Twin Owls, so there will be no shortage of options if you want to leave the cooking and cleaning to someone else!
Snooze in Comfort or Take a Hike
You might want to pass out and take a nice long nap after your filling Thanksgiving dinner. And our cabins will allow you to do so in the comfort that will leave you refreshed and well-rested. Our cabins have two master suites that include king-size beds with Egyptian cotton bedding that will have you sinking into slumber fast.
If you’d rather be active after dinner and burn off some of those Estes Park Thanksgiving carbs, there are plenty of beautiful trails around Lake Estes, Estes Park, and the Rocky Mountains for you to hike. And if you wish to swim it off, there’s an indoor pool at the nearby Estes Park Resort, as one of the many of the resort’s resources that are accessible to our cabins’ guests.
Run or Walk in the Annual Turkey Trot
Another way to get moving on Thanksgiving Day is to participate in the annual Turkey Trot put on by the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center. Taking place on Thanksgiving morning, this is the perfect way to give your metabolism a boost before your holiday feast. Whether it is raining, sunny, or snowing, this favorite local event marches on. The course is a 5K (3.1 miles) and participants can choose to complete the course by running or walking. Start a new active Thanksgiving tradition with your family by participating in this fun event– kids and even dogs are welcome! Whether you’re just looking to enjoy some crisp air to start your holiday or if you’re after a prize with the fastest time, Estes Park’s Turkey Trot is a family fun way to begin your Estes Park Thanksgiving.
Kick Off the Holiday Season
Spending Thanksgiving in Estes Park means that you’ll be around to kick off the Christmas season with some of the town’s favorite events. The Catch the Glow Parade & Celebration is held the day following Thanksgiving. The day is filled with Christmas music being broadcast throughout the town, Santa visits at his workshop near Bond Park, and an evening lighted Christmas parade. Other events such as the Holiday Wine Festival and gift markets all make celebrating Thanksgiving in Estes Park an enjoyable way to kick off the holiday season. Shop the boutiques and shops that line the streets of Estes Park’s charming downtown, getting an early jump on that Christmas gift list!
