The bird is the word. If you’re hungry and looking for Fine Dining in Estes Park, then stop in at Bird & Jim for farm-sourced, fresh artisan fare. The restaurant takes its name from mountaineers Isabella Bird and Mountain Jim, honoring their pioneer spirit. At Bird & Jim, the philosophy is eating healthy, local and sustainable.
Lunch and Dinner
Bird & Jim is one of the top restaurants in Estes Park, they have a sizeable selection of appetizers, soups and salad for to start your meal off with, with some options only offered at lunch or dinner. Once your appetite has been awakened, you’ll want to try one of the restaurant’s main dishes. Get the meaty Mountain Jim burger or the made-from-scratch Isabella Bird veggie patty. Or if you prefer hot dogs to burgers, then go for the plate of two chili cheese dogs. And if you’re in a really meaty mood, order the wild game meatloaf with elk, lamb, venison, bacon and beef. For lunch you can try the Hallett Peak lunch bowl, with wild rice, avocado, seasonal vegetables, kimchi, sweet soy, pepper coulis, and your choice of protein.
Treat yourself to one of Bird & Jim’s sweets after your meal. Order the seasonal fruit pie, the banana split, the strawberry shortcake, the bread pudding, or the smores. For a gluten-free treat, you might try the avocado chocolate mousse.
Come in between 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for drink specials and snacks. Wine by the glass is discounted to $6, for any wine that’s normally $9 and less. Or take $2 off all draft beers. And don’t miss the chance to try one of the $5 specialty mixed drinks, such as the Bird & Jim Lemonade, the Working Woman’s Special and the Working Man’s Special, or the Mountain Punch and Mountain Margarita.
What better way to start off your Sunday than with a filling brunch? Bird & Jim offers challah French toast with banana maple cream and macadamia nuts; made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits with pork gravy; the Deer Mountain breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheddar, pico de gallo, and pork green chili; the Big Thompson Benny with smoked ham, poached eggs, and hollandaise, served with an English muffin and breakfast potatoes; and gluten-free granola.
