Oh, this is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween… so getaway for a spooktacular stay with us in Estes Park. No need to fear ghosts, ghouls, or goblins; our Estes Park Halloween cabin accommodations and amenities will be sure to frighten them all away!
I Want Candy
What’s a Halloween in Estes Park without some sweet treats to munch upon? And you can do so much more here in Estes Park than just buying a mixed bag of candy from a big box store, and instead shop at one of our specialty candy stores. Laura’s Fine Candies at 129 East Elkhorn Avenue has been open since 1970 and offers toffee, fudge, popcorn, Bret Bars, caramel, and taffy. For saltwater taffy lovers, there’s The Taffy Shop at 121 West Elkhorn Avenue, another longstanding candy business that dates back to the 1930s. And for retro lovers, there’s The Old Fashion Candy Store at 102 West Elkhorn Avenue.
Elktober
October has the local nickname of Elktober, as the elk come out in droves for their mating season that’s in full force this time of year. With hundreds of elk living around the area, you’re likely to catch a glimpse of a fair few during Halloween in Estes Park. As dusk encroaches, you might even hear the sound of a bull elk’s bugle as he looks to intimidate his competition for a mate. If you want to increase your chances of an elk sighting, watch for them in the early morning or evenings. They can be found in certain areas of Rocky Mountain National Park and sometimes even just wandering around town.
Visit the Rocky Mountains
As the summer crowds truly die off, it’s an excellent time of year to visit the Rocky Mountain National Park, avoiding the high traffic of summer and the worst of winter’s chills. Weekends are when the park sees the most traffic, so if you can it’s best to visit on a weekday. Get up there and explore, maybe take the chance to tell a few spooky ghost stories to your fellow hikers.
A Cabin in the Woods
At our cabins here in Mountain Village at Lake Estes, you’re unlikely to come face to face with any ghosts or goblins. So feel free to snack on a bowl of candy and watch a few spooky movies on a flat-screen TV with the family. We’re here to help plan your Estes Park Halloween hideaway, so feel free to reach out to us today!
